On December 10, 2024 the Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) completed a multi-day drug trafficking investigation that led to multiple charges against a Wetaskiwin resident involved in illegal drug activity.
Over the course of several days Wetaskiwin RCMP in coordination with other RCMP disciplines conducted a comprehensive surveillance effort in Wetaskiwin targeting suspected drug activity. The operation led to an arrest of 44-year-old Wetaskiwin resident Michael Trottier. After resisting arrest Trottier was taken into custody.
This operation led to the RCMP executing a search warrant of Trottier’s vehicle and residence. Search warrant resulted in the seizure of:
- 36 grams of cocaine
- 10 grams of crystal Meth
- 2 firearms
- Drug paraphernalia
- 2200 dollars of cash.
Michael Trottier is now facing charges of:
- Possession of Drugs for the purpose of trafficking x 2
- Possession of a weapon x 2
- Assault on Police officer x 2
- Assault on Police officer with a weapon x 2
- Possession of stolen property.
- Resisting arrest.

Michael Trottier remains in custody and will appear in Wetaskiwin Court on Thursday December 12, 2024.
