The Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit is asking for the public’s help in identifying the individual, or individuals, responsible for the fatal stabbing of Roger Dale Lusk, age 66.
On September 23, 2024, at approximately 11 a.m., Lusk was leaving his home on Ira Morgan Way in Metcalfe, driving his pickup truck. A short distance from his home, he pulled over and interacted with a light grey or silver sedan. During this interaction, the front passenger of the sedan entered Lusk’s vehicle and attacked him, stabbing him before fleeing the scene in the same sedan.
A neighbour discovered Lusk in critical condition shortly after the stabbing and called 911. He was transported to The Ottawa Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries on October 5, 2024. The Ottawa Police Homicide Unit took over the investigation following his death.
Sergeant Chris O’Brien, the lead investigator in the case, announced today that investigators are releasing video footage and still images of the suspect vehicle in hopes of generating leads from the community.
“We are asking the public to closely examine the vehicle captured in the footage,” Sergeant O’Brien stated. “If you recognize this vehicle or have any information about the individuals involved, please come forward. We believe there were at least two people in the vehicle during the attack – the offender and the driver – and we are confident that others in the community may have information that could assist in bringing justice for Mr. Lusk and his family.”
Anyone with specific knowledge about the vehicle or the incident is urged to contact police.

“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved Dale. He was a dedicated father and a loving husband,” said the Lusk family. “We are pleading with anyone who may have information about Dale’s homicide or the individuals responsible to come forward.”
