Following an anonymous Crime Stoppers tip and a three-month long investigation, police a 59-year-old Spruce Grove man was arrested and about $125,000 in drugs and illegal cigarettes were seized.
Devon RCMP, Alberta RCMP Central Alberta District (CAD) Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), assisted by RCMP Police Dog Services, executed search warrants on Saskatchewan Avenue West, in Devon.
Police seized over $125,000, in drugs and unstamped cigarettes. It included nearly 64,000 unstamped cigarettes/cigars, 577 grams of psilocybin, 698 grams of cocaine, 2,485 grams of cannabis, 16 grams of methamphetamine, and $1,520 cash.
Warren James Wood has been charged with two counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking as well as possession of unstamped tobacco products for the purpose of trafficking.
Wood was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. He is to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Leduc on April 18, 2024.
“Devon RCMP takes crime seriously and will follow any solid tip or lead they receive from the public,” said the Devon RCMP Detachment Commander Sgt Chris Mosley.
