RCMP arrest man.
An elderly man was assaulted with an axe during a home invasion around 1:55 p.m. on Feb. 10 on Mountain Road, in Moncton, New Brunswick.
RCMP say a number of individuals had broken into the home and fled the scene in a white car after the assault. One of the responding officers saw the car leaving and began to follow it.
The officer attempted to pull the car over but the vehicle fled. The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police pursued the car for a short time until it collided with a second vehicle. The four suspects then attempted to flee on foot, but were apprehended a short time later with help from RCMP Police Dog Services.
On Feb. 11, Steven Fenwick Vanbuskirk, Richard Vosburgh, Jessica Power, and Luc Anthime Jean appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on charges of aggravated assault. They were remanded into custody.
On Feb. 14, additional charges were laid against all four individuals including break and enter into a dwelling house and committing an indictable offence of aggravated assault, aggravated assault, and unlawful confinement
Jessica Power was also charged with obstruction, and Richard Vosburgh was also charged with obstruction, intent to commit an indictable offence, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving while impaired by drugs.
All four individuals remain in custody, and are scheduled to return to court on Feb. 22 at 1:30 p.m. for their bail hearings.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
