Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit has charged 40-year-old Jason Matthew Keam with second-degree murder in the death of 33-year-old Stephanie Anderson-Paupanekis.
On March 22, 2025, at approximately 3:10 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a domestic-related assault at a residence in the 1000 block of Selkirk Avenue.
Upon arrival, General Patrol officers from the North District, located an adult female with severe injuries. They provided emergency medical care including CPR. She was transported to hospital in critical condition, however, succumbed to her injuries.
Stephanie was a member of Norway House First Nation and had been residing in Winnipeg since 2024.
With the assistance of the K9 unit, an adult male was located nearby and taken into custody.
