Two residents from Jasper have been arrested following a six-month investigation that focused on the distribution of illicit street drugs in the Jasper community.
RCMP Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit helped with the investigation. Then, Jasper RCMP, along with RCMP Police Dog Services and Edson RCMP Integrated Traffic Unit, executed a search warrant at a home in Jasper.
Police seized suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl, two shotguns, three rifles, two handguns, two replica handguns, and a Tazer.
RCMP didn’t name those arrested but said they anticipate sending out an additional media release once charges are approved and laid.
“These inherently addictive and toxic substances pose significant public safety concerns,” said Sgt. Rick Bidaisee, Jasper RCMP Detachment Commander
“Coupled with the use of weapons in their distribution, these substances greatly increase public safety concerns. As the investigation proceeds, Jasper RCMP will continue to focus on these types of criminal activity. This is part of our mandate to provide a safe community.”
