NISICHAWAYASHIK FIRST NATION, Man., — A 13-year-old boy from Nisichawayasihk First Nation is recovering in hospital after being shot multiple times in an early morning incident that has prompted a police investigation.
On June 26 at approximately 1:45 a.m., Nelson House RCMP responded to reports of shots fired behind a building on McDonald Road in the community. Officers arrived quickly and discovered that the teenager had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
The boy was transported to hospital, where he underwent immediate surgery. He currently remains in stable condition, according to police.
Authorities haven’t released any information about a possible suspect or suspects, nor have they indicated what may have led to the shooting. The investigation remains in its early stages.
