PORT McNEILL, B.C., — Police on northern Vancouver Island are appealing to the public for help identifying a Good Samaritan who dropped off an injured woman at the Port McNeill hospital late Tuesday night—and are also seeking to speak with the woman herself, who left the facility before investigators could question her.
According to Port McNeill RCMP, officers received a report on June 23, that an adult woman had been brought to the local hospital with significant injuries. She received medical treatment at the facility, but the nature of her injuries prompted investigators to deem them suspicious and possibly linked to criminal activity.
Police did not disclose the specific type or extent of the woman’s injuries, citing the ongoing investigation.
In the early morning hours of June 24, the woman was discharged from the hospital and left before she could speak further with investigators. Her current whereabouts are unknown, and police have not released a description of her.
Authorities are now urging anyone with information about the circumstances surrounding the woman’s injuries to come forward. In particular, they are hoping to identify the Good Samaritan who transported her to the hospital in the late evening of June 23.
The individual who dropped her off may have crucial information that could help us understand what happened, said the RCMP in a statement.
Police haven’t indicated whether the woman is considered a victim, a witness, or a person of interest in the case. They are also asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything unusual in the Port McNeill area around that time to contact investigators.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Port McNeill RCMP at 250-956-4441. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
