Neil Gow charged in death of Danielle Sanders
EVANSBURG, Alta., — A 52-year-old Evansburg man initially charged with aggravated assault following a serious incident last week is now facing a manslaughter charge after the victim died from her injuries.
Neil Gow, 52, was originally charged on May 28, by RCMP Major Crimes Unit with aggravated assault, dangerous driving causing injury, and flight from police following an incident in the community.
The victim, Danielle Sanders, 46, also of Evansburg, passed away in hospital on the same day charges were laid. An autopsy conducted on May 29, 2026, at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton ruled the cause of death a homicide.
Following Sanders’ death, prosecutors withdrew the aggravated assault charge against Gow on June 1, 2026, and issued a new charge of manslaughter.
Gow appeared before a judicial interim release hearing following his initial arrest and was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in St. Albert on June 1, 2026, to answer to the new charge. The RCMP Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate the incident.
