FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. — A Calgary man is in custody facing multiple charges, including kidnapping with a firearm, following an incident on Highway 43 north of Fort McMurray, say police.
On May 19, at approximately 10 p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a 911 call for a possible abduction. Police met with the victim who reported that prior to calling 911, he was the passenger in a vehicle with a male known to him. The driver drove north of Fort McMurray on Highway 63, began threatening the victim and pointed a handgun at him.

The victim wasn’t physically injured, say police.
On May 20, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP, assisted by the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), Criminal Intelligence Unit, Drug Section, General Investigation Section, Police Dog Services and Wood Buffalo ALERT, located the suspect vehicle in an alley behind Walnut Crescent.
