CALGARY — Leduc RCMP Const. Bridget Morla who was charged with sexually assaulting two teenage boys pled guilty on May 19 in a Calgary court to one charge of common assault.
She was initially charged with sexually assaulting teenage boys in an Airdrie, Alta., hotel room in 2022
The Crown and defence gave the Court of King’s Bench a joint sentencing submission that includes a discharge, meaning she won’t have a criminal conviction on her record.
Morla will be sentenced in September.
Court heard that while off duty on Dec. 3, 2022, Morla was at a youth hockey tournament in Airdrie. During the evening, a group of parents, players, and other chaperones were socializing and drinking in a hotel room together.
Morla admitted that she touched the thighs and shoulders of a 16-year-old, and “accidentally” touching his groin.
The boy said he “immediately expressed surprise and discomfort.”
After Morla found out that another one of the boys was 17, she said “he was legal,” and then placed her fingers inside his waistband and tickled his upper body, court heard.
Morla was suspended from the RCMP with pay in December 2022. Her pay was stopped in November 2025.
Once she is sentenced, the RCMP will conduct an internal hearing.
