A 33-year-old man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with a fatal stabbing outside a Coquitlam pub more than a year ago.
On May 12, 2026, Timothy Vansnick, now 33, entered a guilty plea to manslaughter for his role in the death of a 35-year-old man. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for December 3 and 4, 2026, at Port Coquitlam Law Courts.
“The entering of a guilty plea is a significant step in the court process,” said Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT. “As we await sentencing, our thoughts are with the victim’s family, friends, and those who were impacted by this tragic death.”
The charges stemmed from an incident on January 31, 2025. At approximately 9:42 p.m., Coquitlam RCMP responded to a report of a fight outside the John B Pub, located at 1000 Austin Avenue. Bystanders quickly provided first aid to a man suffering from a life-threatening injury. First responders attended, but despite the efforts of paramedics, the 35-year-old victim died at the scene.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took over the investigation and worked alongside Coquitlam RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS), and the BC Coroners Service.
On Feb. 1, 2025, the BC Prosecution Service approved one count of second-degree murder against Vansnick, who was 32 at the time of the stabbing. That charge has now been resolved with the manslaughter plea.
