Police are searching for a suspect vehicle after two street robberies — both involving a firearm and the theft of jewelry — occurred in Abbotsford over a two-week period.
The most recent incident happened on April 30th at approximately 8:09 p.m. along Discovery Trail near Abbotsford Exhibition Park. A lone male suspect produced a firearm and demanded the victim’s jewelry.
The first robbery took place on April 14th at approximately 2:40 p.m. near the intersection of Maclure Road and Trethewey Street. In that incident, the same method was used: a lone male suspect produced a firearm and demanded jewelry from the victim.
In both cases, the victims were shaken but not physically injured.
Investigators from AbbyPD’s Major Crime Unit believe the two incidents are connected. The suspect is described as a South Asian male, 17 to 20 years old, approximately 5’9″ with a slim build.
No arrests have been made to date. The investigations are in the early stages, and additional resources have been deployed to assist.
Today, police released an image of a suspect vehicle described as a grey 2018–2020 Toyota Camry — possibly an SE model — with an “N” sign displayed on the rear, indicating a novice driver.
Anyone with information about the suspect or the suspect vehicle is asked to contact the Abbotsford Police Department. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers.
