Alireza Haghgood, 22, and Ahmad Ahmadi, 44, from Ontario arrested, released
BRANDON, Man., — On July 31, at approximately 8:50 p.m., a Manitoba RCMP Traffic Services officer was patrolling westbound on Highway 1 when a fast-moving vehicle was observed travelling eastbound.
Radar recorded the vehicle travelling 129 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
The vehicle was stopped as it reached the City of Brandon, and the subsequent investigation led to a search of the vehicle
During the search, police located multiple bags containing a large amount of Canadian currency.
Both the driver and passenger were arrested and transported to the Minnedosa RCMP detachment.
The estimated total amount of cash located in the vehicle was approximately $970,000.
Alireza Haghgood, 22, from Toronto, Ontario, and Ahmad Ahmadi, 44, from Stouffville, Ontario, are both facing charges of possession of property obtained by crime for the purpose of trafficking over $5,000.
Both were released on a Release Order.
Manitoba RCMP Traffic Services continues to investigate.
