ATHABASCA, Alta. – On Aug. 6, at 3:26 a.m., Athabasca RCMP responded to a report of found human remains. An autopsy was completed on Aug. 7, 2026, at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton, and the manner of death was deemed to be a homicide. The victim was identified as Fiasal Hussein, a 12-year-old Edmonton resident.
The RCMP Major Crimes Unit was called in to investigate and have taken carriage of the investigation.
RCMP is seeking public assistance with this investigation. If you were around Highway 813 near Calling Lake or Range Road 213A (referred to as the “C-Road”), on Aug. 6, 2026, between 12 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., and have dash cam video, please contact Athabasca RCMP at (780) 675- 4252.
