On Feb. 24, 2026, Ponoka RCMP located a deceased 92-year-old man outside his residence. The circumstances surrounding his death appeared suspicious and RCMP Major Crimes was called in to investigate.
An autopsy was conducted on Feb. 26, 2026, and the manner of death was confirmed to be a homicide.
RCMP is seeking public assistance with the investigation. They are looking for any dash cam video between the hours of 9 p.m. on Feb. 23 and 3 a.m. on Feb 24, around Bear Hills Casino and Highway 2A from Highway 611, traveling south into Ponoka.
