Battlefords RCMP arrested a male and laid multiple charges after firearms incidents on Red Pheasant Cree Nation.
On Feb. 14, 2026, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Battlefords RCMP responded to a call that an armed adult male had been in an altercation with a security guard on Red Pheasant Cree Nation and fled by vehicle. Officers attended and began searching for the male and the vehicle.
At approximately 7:10 p.m., officers received a report that a male on a snowmobile had shot at a residence on Red Pheasant Cree Nation. Officers responded immediately. They located a male with a firearm on a snowmobile and initiated a traffic stop. The male failed to stop, discarded the firearm and attempted to flee on the snowmobile. He was arrested at the scene.
Investigation determined the male was the same individual from the earlier altercation. The investigation later found the male also discharged a firearm at an individual.
As a result of continued investigation, 24-year-old Mackenzie Wahobin from Red Pheasant Cree Nation has been charged with flight from peace officer, uttering threats, discharge firearm with intent, possession of weapon contrary to order, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number, careless use of a firearm, operation of a conveyance while prohibited, possession of a prohibited weapon when knowing possession is unauthorized, and unlicensed possession of a prohibited weapon with ammunition.
