The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) arrested two suspects after a vehicle was flagged by an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) for a suspended driver fled from police. Using technology such as the Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) and with the collaboration of multiple deployed units, officers safely tracked the suspects through a wooded area, made the arrest without incident, and recovered $64,000 worth of cocaine.
The accused, Takym Martin-Mcintosh, 25-year-old, male, of Newmarket, Ontario, has been charged with:
- Flight from Peace Officer
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine)

Subsequent searches led to the seizure of the following items:

On December 9, shortly before noon, a member of the NBPS Patrol Section attempted to stop a vehicle following a suspended driver alert from an ALPR in the area of Lakeshore Drive and Judge Avenue. The driver fled at a high rate of speed. In the interest of public safety, a vehicle pursuit was not initiated.
Shortly after, the vehicle was found abandoned and stuck in the snow near College Drive. Both the accused and co-accused were located and tracked through a wooded area with the assistance of an RPAS. Surveillance from the above allowed officers to safely track and apprehend both individuals.
As officers approached, both suspects attempted to flee on foot, discarding several items into the snow. The items were subsequently recovered with the assistance of the OPP North East Region K9 Unit.
“The use of technology enhances our ability to pursue suspects while keeping our community and our officers safer,” says A/Deputy Warner. “ALPR and RPAS tools are significantly contributing to successful arrests, and in this case helped us seize another $64,000 worth of cocaine destined for our community.”
The NBPS Criminal Investigations Section (CIS), including the Street Crime Unit (SCU), led the investigation with assistance from the Patrol Section, the NBPS Emergency Response Team, and the OPP North East Region, including Emergency Response Team, Patrol and K9 Units.
The accused and co-accused were arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.
