To further the investigation, IHIT is confirming that the deployment is in relation to the missing person investigation for Jessica Cunningham, of Maple Ridge.
As a result of the investigative efforts on August 26, 2025, police located human remains. At this time, IHIT is working closely with the BC Coroners Service to confirm the identity of the remains.
On August 27, 2025 the BC Prosecution Service laid a charge of indignity to human remains against Mylie Barron in relation to this investigation. At this time, he remains in custody.
Based on initial information, Jessica was last seen in June 2025. She was reported missing in July 2025 and the Ridge Meadows RCMP began a missing persons investigation and have been actively working to locate her.
On August 26, 2025 Ridge Meadows RCMP were on scene in the 22800 block of Gillis Place gathering information for an ongoing missing person investigation.
As criminality has been suspected, the area surrounding the scene was cordoned off for a significant amount of time. IHIT was called and is working in partnership with Ridge Meadows RCMP and the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS).
“Investigators are working diligently to understand the circumstances surrounding Jessica’s disappearance,” says S/Sgt. David Lee, IHIT Media Relations Officer. “Investigators are releasing her name and photo and seeking assistance to build a timeline of her activity leading up to the missing persons report.”
IHIT is responsible for investigating homicides, suspicious deaths, and high-risk missing persons where criminality is suspected.
