Langley RCMP Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has identified the April 18 homicide victim in Langley as 47-year-old Tyler Smith of Langley in an effort to advance the investigation.
Smith had only recently moved to the area. Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to the public.
“We are hoping that anyone with information about Mr. Smith will come forward to speak to IHIT,
” says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT. “We are particularly interested in anyone who may have been in contact with Mr. Smith the recent days leading up to his death.

Any witnesses or anyone with dash-camera footage who was in the area of the 20500 block of 56 Avenue between 10:00 p.m. on April 17, 2025 to 8:00 a.m. on April 18, 2025 are being asked to contact IHIT by calling the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
On April 18 at approximately 7:24 a.m., the Langley RCMP received a report of a structure fire located in the 20500 block of 56 Avenue where one person was found deceased.
Initial investigation by the Langley RCMP determined the death to be suspicious and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) were called in to investigate.
