An officer with the Thunder Bay Police Service is facing criminal charges of theft under $5,000 and breach of trust, according to a news release from the police service on Thursday. Police said they conducted an internal investigation after receiving a complaint.
“Maintaining public confidence is a top priority and I thank those who displayed the courage to speak out,” said Thunder Bay Police Service Chief Darcy Fleury, in a media release.
Police said that the officer has been suspended with pay.
The officer facing charges has not been named.
