Jayna Knott, 26, of Wasagamack Anisininew Nation, was charged on Feb. 18 with second-degree murder in the homicide of a one-year-old boy that occurred on Feb. 17.
She was remanded into custody.
At about 9:15 am, on Feb. 17, Island Lake RCMP responded to the child’s death on Wasagamack First Nation. Officers arrived and located a one-year-old male deceased.
RCMP are not looking for any other suspects and there is no risk to the community.
Island Lake, Manitoba, RCMP along with Major Crime Services and the Forensic Identification Services continue to investigate.
