Dennis Cardinal, 21, from Onion Lake, and Kimberly Thunderchild, 30, from Lloydminster, have been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 46-year-old Abdo Grayman on Onion Lake in July 2022.
Cardinal and Thunderchild appeared in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Jan. 17, 2024.
On July 1, 2022, Onion Lake RCMP had received a report of an injured adult male located in a camper next to a residence on the Onion Lake Cree Nation. Officers immediately responded and located a seriously injured 46-year-old man.
Grayman was taken to hospital where he later died. The circumstances surrounding his death were investigated by the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit along with Onion Lake Detachment, North Battleford General Investigation Section and Forensic Identification Services, and Lloydminster RCMP Police Dog Services.
As a result of continued investigation by Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes, Cardinal was arrested in Onion Lake on Nov. 29, 2023. Thunderchild was arrested in Edmonton on Dec. 11, 2023.
