A 66-year-old woman is dead and a 37-year-old man has non-life-threatening injuries. A 68-year-old man was arrested at the home and charged with murder.
On Jan. 17, at 1 p.m., the Chilliwack RCMP had responded to a 9-1-1 call from a home in the 46600-block of Teton Avenue in Chilliwack, B.C.
IHIT is working with the Chilliwack RCMP, the BC Coroners Service and the RCMP Integrated Forensic Identification Section (IFIS). Initial evidence indicates this was an isolated incident between three family members, with no ongoing risk to the public.
At this time, IHIT is not releasing the name of the victim out of respect for the family’s privacy. Additionally, in consideration of the evidence collected, it is not believed that the release of the victim’s name at this stage would further the investigation, say police.
IHIT is asking anyone with information regarding the homicide to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
