Off-duty Winnipeg Police officer Oleskii Gerasymchuk, 39, has been charged with impaired driving after allegedly drinking beer at Leopold’s Tavern on Henderson Highway.
Gerasymchuk was arrested at his home after driving away from the bar. Staff had called and reported him as a drunk driver.
A bartender told media that he only had two beer but by the time he got up to leave he was clearly intoxicated and appeared to stumble.
Security staff warned him not to drive but he allegedly ignored them and went to his car.
Gerasymchuk has been a police officer for two years. He has been placed on desk duty.
