Kingston Police Special Services Division have been targeting drug traffickers and executed two search warrants on Dec. 14.
Their investigation looked at trafficking of crystal meth in the Leroy Grant Drive area. The Emergency Response Unit helped officers execute two search warrants at two apartments.
Two people were arrested and charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
Police seized 1,591 grams of crystal meth (1.59 kilograms), 370 18mg hydromorphone pills, 172 morphine pills, and a large quantity of cash.
In a separate investigation, the Street Crime Unit executed a second search warrant in 48 hours at “Shroomyz” psychedelic mushroom dispensary at 149 Brock Street in downtown Kingston. The operators had re-opened the same storefront following a previous investigation on Dec. 12, which resulted in significant seizures of psychedelic mushroom products.
Police seized 2561.25g (2.56 kilograms) of psychedelic mushroom products with an estimated value of $56,000, and $700 in cash.
Police say Psychedelic mushrooms remain a controlled substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and as such the trafficking of these products remains unlawful.
