Alberta RCMP Major Crimes charge 3 people homicide in John D’or Prairie

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes has made three arrests in relation to the suspicious death of a man on Dec. 5 in John D’Or Prairie.  

Montana Tallcree (18), Caden Nanooch (19) and a youth (who cannot be named), all residents of John Do’r Prairie, have been arrested and charged with the second degree murder of Nathan Nanooch (25). Following a judicial hearing, all three have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Vermilion on Dec. 12.

An autopsy was conducted by the Edmonton Medical Examiners office on Dec. 8, and the manner of death was deemed to be a homicide.

On Dec. 5, Fort Vermilion RCMP were dispatched to the medical center in John D’or Prairie, where a male had been assaulted and dropped off. This male later succumbed to his injuries. After an initial investigation, RCMP are treating his death as a homicide. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation. An autopsy has been scheduled at the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s office.

The investigation is ongoing, and there is no information to suggest a risk to the public at this time.
