25-year-old Jerome Edwards is accused of robbing a bank Cawthra Road and Burnhamthorpe Road in Mississauga, Ont., on Dec. 7.
Peel Regional Police say that he passed a note to a teller saying he he was armed and demanded money. Fearing for her safety, the bank teller gave cash to the armed robber. He fled on foot with a large amount of cash.
Responding officers chased him on foot and arrested him. At the time of his arrest, he was found to have a quantity of cash, an imitation firearm, and a large edged weapon.
Edwards is charged with robbery, wearing a disguise, using an imitation firearm, and failing to comply with a court order. He is in custody waiting for a bail hearing.
