Rocky Harbour RCMP has arrested and charged 56-year-old Maxwell Upwards of Norris Point following an investigation into a shooting at a home Dec. 7 in Norris Point.
At about 9:15 p.m., police received a report that a man had been shot in the community of Norris Point and was being transported to the Bonne Bay Health Centre. The shooter was identified as Maxwell Upwards. Officers attended both the hospital and the Main Street residence of Upwards in response to the report received.
The victim of the shooting, a male resident of Norris Point, was treated for injuries that were non-life-threatening.
The investigation is being led by the RCMP General Investigation Section with assistance from Rocky Harbour and Deer Lake Detachments.
Upwards appeared in court Dec. 8 on charges of aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, and three firearms offences.
