Winnipeg Police have arrested two individuals in connection with a violent stabbing and robbery that left a man in his 30s fighting for his life earlier this week.
The incident unfolded on the evening of August 27, 2025, at approximately 8:19 p.m. Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Maryland Street following multiple 911 calls reporting a man was bleeding profusely from stab wounds.
Officers from the Tactical Support Team (TST) were among the first on the scene. They located the victim and immediately began administering emergency medical care. The man was subsequently transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Police reported Thursday that his condition has since been upgraded to stable.
Following the attack, the suspects fled the area with several of the victim’s belongings. A significant police response, including Air1 and a K9 unit, was deployed to secure the scene and conduct an extensive search for the suspects.
The investigation was handed over to the Major Crimes Unit the following day, August 28. Their work led investigators to the Central District area, where at approximately 12:00 p.m., two suspects were taken into custody.
The accused have been identified as 35-year-old Everett Vaughn PETERS and 35-year-old Brittany Michelle FIDDLER, both of Winnipeg.
Peters faces charges of:
- Aggravated Assault
- Robbery
- Possession of a Weapon
Fiddler has been charged with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Robbery
Both have been detained in custody.
The Major Crimes Unit has confirmed its investigation is ongoing as they work to identify any additional suspects involved in the attack.
