A man was arrested after turning his can of bear mace onto police officers who had responded to a home on Red Earth Cree Nation for a report of a man spraying the mace inside a residence at about 1:55 p.m. on March 2.
Carrot River RCMP say Rushawn Whitecap, 25, from Red Earth Cree Nation is charged with assault on a police officer, uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, resist/obstruct a peace officer, and mischief under $5,000.
Police say when they had responded to the home, they found a male inside and made verbal commands that the male was under arrest and ordering him to exit the house. Officers later arrested the male at the scene.
Rushawn Whitecap was also arrested on his outstanding warrant from Carrot River RCMP. He was wanted in relation to an assault that occurred in November 2024.
