Fifty-eight-year-old Eroll Rabbit has been charged with second-degree murder after assaulting and killing 66-year-old Gary Gordon Raine at a home on Louis Bull First Nation.
Rabbit remains in custody and appeared in the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin on Dec. 19.
Maskwacis RCMP had received a report of an assault at a residence on Oct. 9. Raine was taken to hospital with serious injuries and later died.
Police arrested Rabbit at a nearby home and charged him with attempted murder, which was upgraded after Raine died.
Both Rabbit and Raine are from Maskwacis.
