CALGARY, Alta., — Calgary police are asking anyone who believes they may have been victimized in a vehicle resale fraud to come forward as investigators work to identify additional victims in an odometer rollback investigation.
In March 2026, Calgary police began looking into allegations that the mileage on a vehicle had been altered before it was resold to an unsuspecting buyer. The investigation was launched after a victim purchased a 2012 Honda CR-V advertised on Facebook Marketplace.
It is alleged the seller provided a Carfax report indicating the vehicle had approximately 169,000 kilometres. After completing the purchase, the buyer obtained another Carfax report and learned the vehicle’s last reported mileage was more than 316,000 kilometres. The victim also discovered that proof of insurance provided during the transaction was not valid.
Through the investigation, officers identified a man who is believed to have used the alias “Zybszek Zebrowski” while selling the vehicle. After gathering evidence linking the suspect to a residence in the 0-100 block of Creekstone Drive S.W., investigators obtained a search warrant for the property. Investigators believe the suspect purchased vehicles with higher mileage, altered vehicle records and then resold them to buyers while misrepresenting their condition and value.
On June 20, investigators executed the warrant and seized false identification documents, completed bills of sale, cash and various automotive sale documents.

As a result, Ivan KAMYSHANSKYI, 27, is wanted on a warrant for:
- One count of fraud over $5,000
- One count of false pretence over $5,000
- Two counts of uttering a forged document
“When someone manipulates a vehicle’s mileage, they’re not just misrepresenting the value of the vehicle, they’re undermining a buyer’s ability to make an informed decision about its safety, condition and worth,” says Staff Sgt. Mike Sushelnitsky. “We believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward. If you purchased a vehicle and later discovered discrepancies in its mileage, ownership history or supporting documents, we encourage you to contact police.”
Anyone with information about KAMYSHANSKYI’s whereabouts or anyone who believes they may have been victimized is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
