FORT ST JOHN, B.C., — SET members uncovered an operation where 3D printed firearms were being manufactured and assembled. Approximately 20 firearms were located either completed or in progress.
On June 18, the Fort St John RCMP Street Enforcement Team (SET) executed a search warrant on 105th Ave in Fort St John, BC, related to a drug trafficking investigation.
The Fort St John RCMP has seen an increase in the seizure of privately manufactured firearms (PMF’s) since the late fall of 2025. The Fort St John RCMP is well aware of the threat PMF’s pose to community safety, as some of these types of firearms often resemble harmless toys.
“The Fort St John RCMP Street Enforcement Team, with assistance from Serious Crime and Frontline RCMP members, were able to safely execute this Search Warrant that effectively dismantled a home firearm manufacturing operation,” said Sgt. Ian Rissanen, commander of the Fort St John RCMP Plainclothes Unit. “Since the rise of PMF’s last year was noted by the RCMP, SET has been investigating the matter and were able to locate the source of the guns as part of their broader push to stomp out the illicit sale of drugs and influence of organized crime; thanks in part to vigilant community members. It’s hard to quantify the impact this warrant execution will have on public safety within our community; but it’s safe to say the impact will be profound.”
The 37-year-old man who was arrested was subsequently released without process while RCMP members continue the investigation and prepare the disclosure for the BC Prosecution Service to review. Fort St John RCMP anticipates that a number of serious charges will be recommended.
