ATIKAMEG, Alta. — A 30-year-old man wanted for armed robbery and possession of stolen property has been arrested and faces additional charges after he allegedly assaulted a police officer and was found with a firearm.
High Prairie RCMP requested assistance from the Alberta RCMP Western Alberta District (WAD) Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) on June 15, to locate and arrest a man with an outstanding warrant. The warrant stemmed from two separate investigations including an armed robbery on June 4, and a possession of stolen property on June 5.
On July 16, RCMP WAD CRU, with assistance from High Prairie RCMP, Alberta RCMP Police Dog Services, and the Emergency Response Team, located the wanted male. During the arrest, the man resisted and assaulted a police officer. A firearm was seized at the scene.
Jericho Grey, who has no fixed address, had already been charged with 16 offences related to the existing warrant. Following the July 16 arrest, he now faces additional charges, including assaulting a police officer, possession of a firearm while prohibited (four counts, linked to four different court orders), possession of a firearm without a license, and resisting a police officer.
Grey was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in High Prairie on June 22.
