WINNIPEG, man. — The Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit (MIHRSOU) is a joint forces unit of the Winnipeg Police Service and the RCMP. MIHRSOU is alerting the public that Michael Curtis Thomas, 33, a convicted offender considered high risk to re-offend in a sexually violent manner against women.
On Oct. 1, Thomas was released from Stony Mountain Institution in Manitoba on statutory release after serving a portion of his sentence for a conviction for Aggravated Sexual Assault. On Dec. 23, 2021, Thomas was convicted of aggravated sexual assault and received a 61-month sentence (in addition to 696 days pre-sentence custody credit).
Thomas is expected to reside in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Thomas has a history of violent offending. Although he has completed some sexual offender treatment in the past, he remains a high risk to re-offend in a sexually violent manner against all adult females.
This information is provided to enable members of the public to take suitable measures to protect themselves. Any form of vigilante activity or other unreasonable conduct directed at Thomas will not be tolerated, say police.
