CALGARY, Alta., — Calgary police said on July 16 they have charged two people following a drug trafficking investigation that resulted in the seizure of a stolen, loaded handgun, ammunition, drugs and cash.
In June 2026, investigators received information that a man was involved in drug trafficking and was in possession of a firearm. Following further investigation, officers obtained a search warrant for a residence located in the 300-400 block of 1 Avenue N.E. believed to be associated with the suspect.
Pursuant to the search warrant, officers seized:
- A loaded 9-mm handgun, later determined to have been stolen from Strathmore, Alta.
- Handgun ammunition
- $7,819.60 in Canadian currency
- 17.5 grams of cocaine
- 59.9 grams of fentanyl
- 10.6 grams of methamphetamine
During the arrest, a suspect was believed to have discarded a firearm before being taken into custody.
As a result of the investigation, Michael Allen Storey, 45, has been charged with:
- 10 counts of possession of a firearm and ammunition contrary to a prohibition order
- Three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000
- Resisting arrest
- Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Possession of a weapon obtained by crime
He will next appear in court on August.
Ashley Lynn Wren, 26, has been charged with:
- Possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order
- Failure to comply with a release order
She appeared in court on July 16.
