RM ESTEVAN, Sask., — Saskatchewan RCMP seized five firearms – and a suspected explosive device – during a weapons investigation near Estevan, SK.
On June 3, Carnduff/Estevan RCMP received a report from Estevan Police Service that a male in RCMP jurisdiction was in possession of a stolen prohibited firearm.
Carnduff/Estevan RCMP began investigating and engaged the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Yorkton Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT) and Critical Incident Response Team to assist. Officers obtained a search warrant and executed it at a rural residence in the RM of Estevan on June 8.
During a search of the residence, officers located and seized four firearms and ammunition. They also located a handheld item that officers believed could be an explosive device. Saskatchewan RCMP’s Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) was engaged to attend the scene to safely evaluate and remove the device. Through investigation, Saskatchewan RCMP’s EDU determined the item was an empty casing and did not consist of explosive materials.


A man was arrested at the residence.
As a result of continued investigation, Saskatchewan RCMP seized a prohibited firearm at a residence in Frobisher, SK. Investigation determined the firearm, which was previously reported as stolen in the City of Estevan, was illegally sold.
Resulting from further investigation, 23-year-old Jared Brailean from Hitchcock, is charged with four counts possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized, four counts, unsafe storage of firearms, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000, and weapons trafficking.
Jared Brailean appeared in Estevan Provincial Court on June 11, 2026. He is scheduled to appear next on June 23, 2026.
