RCMP have made an arrest in an incident where a man was injured after shots were fired in alley in Grande Prairie.
On Nov. 10, 2025, Grande Prairie RCMP and Grande Prairie Police Service (GPPS) members responded to shots being fired in an alleyway near 100 Avenue and 96th Street in the City of Grande Prairie. The injured male received life altering injuries, leaving him paralyzed. Grande Prairie RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) took carriage of the investigation, with assistance from Grande Prairie RCMP General Duty members and Forensic Identification Section, as well as GPPS. After a lengthy investigation, they were able to identify the suspect and obtain a warrant for his arrest.
As a result of the investigation, Avery (AJ) Howard Letendre, 34, of Grande Prairie, was charged with aggravated assault, discharge firearm with intent, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and three counts of possession of a weapon contrary to order.
Letendre was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. He is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on May 20, 2026.
