A 28-year-old man wanted for second-degree murder in the death of a Vermilion, Alta., resident has been arrested in Sooke, B.C., following a three-month manhunt.
Cole Erich Hill, who has no fixed address, was taken into custody on April 25, 2026, by Sooke and West Shore RCMP, with assistance from the West Shore Bike Unit. The arrest came three days after investigators with the Alberta RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) obtained an arrest warrant for Hill.
Hill is accused of killing 30-year-old Brady Greg Snelgrove on Jan. 21, 2026, in Vermilion, a town roughly 200 kilometres east of Edmonton. Following the homicide, police say Hill fled Alberta.
The Major Crimes Unit secured sufficient evidence to support charges on April 22, prompting the warrant. Public tips and interprovincial police collaboration led authorities to Hill’s location in Sooke, a district municipality on southern Vancouver Island.
Hill has since appeared before a Justice of the Peace and has been remanded into custody. He will be transported back to Alberta to face a future court hearing.
