Saskatoon police are investigating two separate killings one week apart, marking the city’s third and fourth homicides of 2026.
Woman found dead in Avenue I South house fire
Emergency crews were called on April 3 to a residential fire in the 400 block of Avenue I South. Firefighters pulled a 61‑year‑old woman from the home during suppression efforts, but she was declared dead at the scene.
Police say the death has since been confirmed as a homicide. The Major Crime Section continues to investigate.
Man dies after being found unresponsive on Avenue X South
Six days later, around 3:45 a.m. on April 9, officers responded to the 500 block of Avenue X South for a report of an injured person. They found a 39‑year‑old man unresponsive. He was taken to hospital by Medavie Health Services West and later pronounced dead.
