A Bit of Background
- Born and raised on Vancouver Island, Mike completed a Bachelor of Arts at Vancouver Island University, majoring in Canadian History with a minor in English.
Policing Journey
- Mike began his policing career with the Edmonton Police Service, getting early experience in a large, fast‑paced city.
- He later moved closer to home to serve with the Victoria PoliceDepartment, continuing to build his skills in another busy urban environment.
- Eventually he returned to Vancouver Island full‑time, joining the RCMP and being posted to Nanaimo, where he now has 10 years of totalservice, all in General Duty.
- Each step added something different for Mike, giving him a blend of big‑city perspective and genuine Island community connection.
What He Enjoys
- Mikes is in his element when he’s fishing, watching or playing sports, or spending quiet time by the ocean, which he calls his reset button.
- He’s a big fan of pizza and sushi—just not at the same time, he’d like that made very clear.
- His dislikes are simple: dirty police cars (he’ll fix that before driving one) and being late.
Life at 6’7”
- Great sightlines come naturally, and his shoe size is usually still on the shelf.
- The trade‑offs: vehicles that don’t quite fit, and door frames that requirecaution when entering
Skills Off Duty
- Mike stays active in the community by refereeing and coaching baseball and basketball.
- He also enjoys mushroom picking, a pastime that suits his patience and love for the outdoors.
Why He Wears the Badge
- Mike joined policing to help people and to make a meaningfuldifference in his community.
- His goal is to be the kind of officer that is fair, respectful and stays grounded.
If you see Mike out and about or on patrol, be sure to say hi- he’s hard to miss, and always happy to chat.
