Prince George RCMP are asking for the public’s help identifying a vehicle and its occupants after a 13‑year‑old girl was approached by a couple in a black SUV last week.
Police say the incident happened on Feb. 27 between 4:30 and 5 p.m., as the girl was walking toward the skate park on Blackburn Road South. A man and woman in a black Hyundai SUV allegedly offered her a ride several times and circled the area while she continued walking. The girl declined and created distance before calling her parents for a ride home.
Investigators have obtained nearby surveillance footage and are releasing a clip in hopes someone will recognize the vehicle or the couple, described as being in their forties. The man is described as having dark hair and a beard. The woman, also in her forties, had a chihuahua with her.
“This young girl took exactly the right action in a situation that made her uncomfortable: she created some distance and called for help,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, the detachment’s media relations officer. She encouraged parents to speak with children and youth about what to do when they feel unsafe.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Prince George RCMP’s non‑emergency line at 250‑561‑3300.
