On Feb. 20, 2026, at 12:18 p.m., St. Albert RCMP was dispatched to assist St. Albert Fire Services at a reported residential fire on Keystone Crescent in St. Albert. Fire Services was able to extinguish the blaze without structure loss, and a search of the residence revealed a deceased person inside.
RCMP believe that the circumstances around this death are suspicious. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has deployed and taken carriage of the investigation, working in close coordination with the St. Albert RCMP.
The deceased has been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where identification and cause of death will be determined.
Although early in the investigation, RCMP believe this was a targeted incident and there is no ongoing risk to the public.
