Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit (HIU) has charged a youth with second-degree murder following a homicide on Star Blanket Cree Nation.
On February 18, 2026, at approximately 12:05 a.m., File Hills First Nations Police Service responded to a report of a homicide on Star Blanket Cree Nation.
File Hills First Nations Police Service officers located a deceased man at a residence. They arrested a male teen at the scene. As File Hills First Nations Police Service does not have a Major Crimes branch, they engaged Saskatchewan RCMP to take full carriage of the investigation.
Following the investigation, Saskatchewan RCMP’s HIU charged the male teen on Feb. 18 with one count, second-degree murder, Section 235(1), Criminal Code.
Police say the victim and the accused are known to each other.
The youth is scheduled to appear in Fort Qu’Appelle Provincial Court on Feb. 19.
