An Alberta RCMP member and one other individual have been charged with multiple counts of fraud

In May of 2024, the Alberta RCMP Serious Crimes Branch was alerted of a possible fraud committed by a serving RCMP officer and his wife against the Piikani Resource Development Ltd.

An extensive investigation ensued and both Cst. Grant Shade (42) and Katrina Shade (40), both residents of Pincher Creek, Alta., were charged with Fraud Over $5,000, and Theft Over $5,000. Katrina Shade had been an employee of Piikani Resource Development Ltd. and Cst. Grant Shade is a member of the Piikani Detachment.

Cst. Shade was additionally charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000.

Both accused have their first appearance scheduled for Feb. 18, 2026, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Macleod, Alts. 

Cst. Shade has been with the RCMP since 2021 and is currently suspended with pay. As this matter is before the courts, the RCMP will have no further comment.
