Hamilton Police have arrested a 17-year-old in connection with the murder of 26-year-old Belinda Sarkodie.
Belinda was killed on July 11, 2025, while spending time with a friend in the downtown core. She was tragically struck by a bullet intended for someone else.
On November 18, 2025, the young person wanted in connection with Belinda’s murder turned himself in to police. He has been arrested and is now facing charges related to the investigation. Because this matter involves a young person, Hamilton Police are prohibited under the Youth Criminal Justice Act from releasing any identifying information, including the individual’s name or any details that could lead to their identification.
Hamilton Police would like to thank the public for their cooperation, as well as the officers and community partners who have worked diligently on this case.
They would also like to acknowledge the Sarkodie family, who have suffered an unimaginable loss. Our thoughts remain with them during this incredibly difficult time. Victim Services is working closely with the family to ensure they receive the support, resources, and care they need.
