Charges have been laid in connection with the January 2025 homicide of a 19-year-old man following a six-month investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) worked alongside the Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD), RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit, Surrey Police Service, the Integrated Forensic Identification Service, BC Coroners Service, Winnipeg Police Service, and Manitoba RCMP Division Major Crime Unit to advance the case.
On August 1, 2024, the BC Prosecution Service approved charges against five men. Four individuals face charges of first-degree murder and forcible confinement:
- Ravdeep Gill, 21, of Winnipeg
- Harmandeep Gill, 26, of Brampton
- Jaskaran Singh, 20, of Surrey
- Bipanpreet Singh, 22, of Surrey
A fifth suspect, Inderpreet Khosa, 19, of Abbotsford, has been charged with forcible confinement in relation to the incident.
Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi of IHIT acknowledged the collaborative efforts of all involved agencies.
The investigation began after AbbyPD responded to reports of an assault in the 2900-block of Victoria Street on January 27, 2025, at 1:52 a.m. Witnesses reported seeing a man being assaulted before being forced into a vehicle.
Three hours later, the victim was found with severe injuries in Surrey’s Crescent Beach area. He succumbed to his injuries on February 1, 2025. IHIT took over the case, determining early on that the incident was targeted but unrelated to the ongoing BC gang conflict.
