Health inspector finds dead mice, one floating in water with utensil, in Calgary restaurant

bb.q CHICKEN located at 207 13 Avenue SE Calgary, Alta., has been shut down by Alberta Health Services after dead mice were found inside the restaurant.

The September 17 closure order reveals that a health inspector found three dead mice, two were captured in tin cat traps and one was floating in a container of water along with a wet stone knife sharpener on the floor of the kitchen.

The health inspector also found numerous mouse droppings throughout the food establishment, including but not limited to in the cupboard under the handwashing sink in the kitchen, on the floor in between, under, and behind equipment, on top of the mechanical dishwasher, on shelving storing food and equipment, on a cutting board on a storage shelf, on the tops of food containers, and in storage containers holding dry food items.

In addition, the general sanitation of food establishment surfaces was poor. Dirt, food debris, grease build-up, and grime were observed on the floors, walls, and equipment throughout.
