Update: On July 7, 2024, Winnipeg Police have charged Christopher Kyle Wattman, 36, with first-degree murder in Brooklyn Elijah Hiebert’s death.
Police say Hiebert was assaulted while in the 200 block of Selkirk Avenue, which caused fatal injuries. The deceased was then moved and her body left in the 200 block of Flora Avenue.
Wattman has been detained in custody.
Original story January 2024: Winnipeg Police are investigating the murder of 20-year-old Brooklyn Elijah Hiebert and are asking the public for information.
On Dec. 30, 2023, at 3 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 200 block of Flora Avenue for the report of suspicious circumstances. When police arrived, they found a deceased male outside.
The Winnipeg Polcie Homicide Unit is seeking any information the public may have to assist in this investigation, including any recent interactions with the deceased Brooklyn Elijah Hiebert or video surveillance in the area.
